In celebration of Pride month this June, Dr. Martens has released two limited-edition pairs of their classic 8-eye, unisex 1460 boot in rainbow and graffiti prints. The timeless boot has been a staple in counter-culture and rebellious self-expression for the last fifty-plus years, making it perfect to rep at Pride events this month. The rainbow pattern on the classic boot is a celebration of diversity and the LGBTQ+ community, especially in conjunction with the brand’s pop-up Pride events. Dr. Martens will be holding shoe-customizing parties with local artists in their stores across the country during cities’ respective Pride weekends.
The first design, “Rainbow Pascal Pride,” features the LGBTQ+ pride-flag in stripes composed of Ben-Day dots for a pop-art inspired aesthetic. The second design, titled just “Pascal Pride” on the website, consists of a black boot with rainbow-colored graffiti, including community-positive words like “peace,” “pride,” “love,” “unity,” as well as hearts and peace signs.
The two eye-catching designs are both topped off with rainbow laces, rainbow-branded sock-liners, Dr. Martens Air Cushion soles, and ice outsoles with the word “Pride” printed on underneath in a handwritten scrabble.
To give back to the LGBTQ community, five dollars from every pair of boots sold will go to The Trevor Project, the nation’s leading organization for suicide prevention and crisis intervention to LGBTQ youth, ages 13-24, making it both a stylish and charitable purchase during Pride month.
