Capitalism has seen to it that human-Earth relationships are obliterated in most contexts. The mere interaction of humans and unspoiled nature has become a precious commodity one buys with vacation time and an automobile, effectively trading fifty-one weeks of salable wage labor for a week spent at a National Park in which one simulates an archaic, and presumably lost, human-Earth coitus.
