Midnight Theatricals and playwright-director S. Asher Gelman recently announced the extension of ‘Afterglow’ until September 16th at The Loft at the Davenport Theatre. Having been met with critical acclaim and featuring the talents of Brandon Haagenson (National Tour: ‘Beauty and the Beast’) as Josh; Patrick Reilly (Film: ‘Dating my Mother’) as Darius; and Joe Chisholm (Off-Broadway: ‘She Has A Name’), who has replaced Robbie Simpson (TV: ‘The Path’), as Alex, the enticing world premiere of Gelman’s one-act play tells the story of married couple Josh and Alex who become involved with a third man, Darius. The result? High drama.
The production began its run June 12th and audiences across the city could not get enough. Gelman told the press: “We are thrilled with the warm response ‘Afterglow’ has received and this second extension provides the rare opportunity to revisit the show, remove the intermission, and elevate certain aspects of the plot to provide a more powerful, uninterrupted experience of our story.” ‘Afterglow’ ponders themes of intimacy and love, as well as challenges notions of loyalty in romantic relationships. The one-act’s frank, suggestive, and poignant dialogue accompanies sultry theatrical imagery. Gelman, who was a founding member and former artistic director of Tel Aviv’s English-language performing arts company The Stage and currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College, is among a vibrant cast of creatives who have worked to bring ‘Afterglow’ to life.
You can catch a glimpse at The Loft at The Davenport Theatre, located at 354 West 45th Street, 2nd Floor. Performances run Monday and Wednesday at 7:30pm and Thursday through Saturday at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased through telecharge.com.
